New Voices South West is a project funded by Impact to enable three emerging artists based in the south-west region to develop critical writing and reviewing skills to support an online arts-writing practice.
The program aims to create a space for disabled artists to gain an experience of engaging with DAO’s online community through publishing a series of blogs, discussions, reviews and comment on the artistic process.
New Voices South West aims to create a lasting infrastructure through developing skilled artist writers, able to write critically about their own and other peoples work. This will add to a lasting network of artists, writers, programmers and curators who will be able to use DAO as a window into the work of Deaf and disabled artists.
In partnership with Spike Island Studios in Bristol. the program includes a three-month accessible writer development course, with input from Associate Artists attached to Spike Island. Over the coming weeks DAO will pubilsh material documenting the process.
